This game really scared me, as I do have a small fear of spiders haha! So, I did scream.

Hey thanks! I've used quite a lot of assets from itch and unity asset store actually. I'll update the game to list and credit them, it's a big oversight.
Most textures are from ambientcg.com, that I index to remove lots of colors. Then I render in-game with a low rez and a LUT postprocess, it helps hiding all of the jank :D
It was quite interesting and easy to do, I'll probably make a devlog here about it.

I felt this was just a prologue to something that could be much larger in scope and design - I was curious about the main character and why they would keep pets if they had recurring nightmares about being chased by large versions of them! You could also have the whole apartment block as one big escape scenario - with some puzzle elements and ways to barricade rooms from X-33.
Dev - If you decided to expand on this I'd keep the eerie, dread like tension throughout - you could be onto something special here...

It all went smoothly, the game works on a 21/9 monitor and makes it more immersive. Loved this little experience with well-made PS1 graphics! You should make another one with increased the scariness with breathing sounds, having the torch running out of battery in very dark environment and more jump scares. Well done!

Tried to play it, but for some reason I'm stuck walking backwards as if I were holding down the S key.
I checked other games to make sure it wasn't just a problem on my end, and it's only happening here. Am I the only one? This occurs in both builds.
That's weird.. I'm using Unity input system (out of the box really), and by default "move" is bound to WASD + arrow keys + joystick/gamepad stick. Is it possible that one of these is creating this error? Can you unplug controllers if you have any?

D: How could he! I trusted the lil guy and was so worried when he wasn't in the cage any more. Spent waaay too long searching every nook and cranny for him while also trying to find a way to feed daisy and stan without crickets or rats. Only realized I could leave the house after a while. I thought it'd just take me to work without feeding the pets.
Thanks! this may not be super intuitive, I make it so the vent grate thing is dropped on the floor to encourage trying to find out where that goes, but it might be insufficient. Will think about it!
I did see the grate. I just started look at every other grate in the house to see if he was there or if I could take the grates off. Didn't occur to me the grate might lead out the house.

Really loved the vibe. The tension is there instantly . I felt uncomfortable even when nothing was happening yet, which is great. I’d be super interested in more story or an extended version of the game.
